Exhibition “I think it’s time we listened….”, from April 25 to July 21, 2024.

The Institute of Greek Music Heritage (IEMK), in collaboration with the Benaki Museum, organizes the original exhibition “I think it’s time we listened….”, at the emblematic building of the Gika Gallery. The exhibition showcases 11 musical figures (Vamvakaris, Theodorakis, Konstantinidis/Giannidis, Mitropoulos, Xenakis, Xenos, Papaioannou, Sicilianos, Skalkotas, Tsitsanis, Hatzidakis), from roughly the same generation but with different musical languages, who shaped the cultural history of Greece in the 20th century. Stavros Xarchakos converses with these 11, presenting representative works of Greek song, theater, and film music. The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight these 11+1 personalities and disseminate their work.
